Rumbles!! Hellfire!! Houseplants!! Talkdemonic,...
Photos by Lexie Smith & Joshua Isaac Finch Words by Joshua Isaac Finch As an avid show hopper, it’s not every weekend that I get to see, not only three bands I’m excited about, but three bands I’m excited about and have never seen. This was my Friday at Sam Bond’s Garage.  Opening the show was brand-spankin’ new piano pop/rock act, Growwler. These guys...

Just The Lint
Initially in assigning tags, I typed “Nose-pop”. This is a genre I’d be pleased to see come to life.  Ahem.  Pocket. Pocket is a fragile and precious sounding noise-pop project featuring airy, twee-esque, female vocals. It’s kinda awesome. Sadly, it seems there’s not much pocket to be had. About 5 tracks total, it would seem, according to their bandcamp page. At...

Stretch Armstrong
Fatty’s known about The Longshots since they were still a little band called Cubscout. We kinda lost track of ‘em and were super stoked to find them on bandcamp. Check out their skankin’, two tonin’ debut ep for a bloody good time.  Pick it up!!Pick it up!!Pick it up!!:http://thelongshotsska.bandcamp.com/album/the-longshots-ep

Putting In Time? Or Taunting Cthulu?
Lovecraft’s self titled, self proclaimed ep (it’s 13 songs, approximately 50 minutes, we say LP) is a dirty, garagey (or at least Garage Band-ey) blues-grunge record. It’s as much Mudhoney as it is George Thorogood, with some obvious first time hiccups, but for a first outing, lets not fault ‘em.  Stream before you buy: http://lovecraft1.bandcamp.com/album/lovecraft-ep

The Strangest...
We love Talkative. We talk about Talkative often. We’re talking about them again, just in case you forgot. Their debut record, Strange Luxuries, is still free on bandcamp, as is the follow up, Light Years. If you haven’t downloaded them yet, we’re not sure what your problem is.  Go forth. Get some: http://talkative.bandcamp.com/

Show Hoppin With Fatty 2/3/12
Words and Photos by Joshua “Fat as I wanna be” Finch Last Friday was a great example of too much good stuff happening at once. I was invited to so many events I had to just opt to hit three that were close to each other and vow to clone myself as soon as possible for the sake of not missing out next time.  The evening started at Luckey’s, where the djs of The UP Beat were...

Though Rare Monk is now technically a Portland band, we still love ‘em, and claim bragging rights for ‘em. Check out their psychsperemental/indie-rockin gem, “Astral Travel Battles” for a headphone-happy experience.  Get it free: http://raremonk.bandcamp.com/

We Have Guns, Gusher, This Patch Of Sky, & Hyding...
Words & Photos by Joshua “Fat Nubs” Finch The brethren were out in full force for a night of local heavies at The WOW Hall last Friday. The one-two punch of We Have Guns and Gusher (Ex-Northwest Royale) would have been more than enough reason to grace the hall with your collective appearances, not to mention the additional cake icing brought by This Patch Of Sky (possibly my new...

Alpine Empire
As we get our ducks in a row for the impending Exiled In Eugene podcast, we’d like to clue you in, for those of you not already in the know, about the Alpine Empire podcast.  Ryan Nelson of Alpine Empire Audio, a small local recording studio, is hosting a bi-monthly local music podcast. He, like us, is just getting started, and we’re stoked to see more people contributing to our...

X-Boyfriends, Destroy The Deck, Cheaper Than Speed...
Words and Photo’s by Joshua “The Fattest Of Ninjas” Finch I’m a sucker for a rubber-faced, drunk, raucous, goof ball front man. The music doesn’t even have to be any good if you’ve got a focal point that’s just that much fun to watch. So now imagine if that singer/comedian/goof-ball found a backing band of mutant super heroes who actually happen to be...
