Jansport’s “Unzipped” Battle Of The Bands @ Ninkasi: Week Two
The second Wednesday of The Unzipped Battle Of The Bands at Ninkasi was a good one. Mind you, we somehow didn’t hear about the FIRST Wednesday, so we can’t exactly compare the two, but either way it was a broad range of excellent local acts.
First up were punk n rollers, Security In Numbers. Rambunctious, energetic, all hooks sing along punk, “Bragging Rights” is still stuck in my head.

Then Alt-Country act, The Harmed Brothers stormed the stage with a raucous country-rockin set of stompers, the crowd was definitely theirs, as the mood instantly felt like they’d just played a house show and then brought the house with them.

Closing the night were Jonezer, funk, jazz, rock, fusion. Smoothing out the mood, and bringing things back down to a cozy, drunken, mellow. Solid.

Based on a “Donation Bucket” system (proceeds going to bigcitymountaineers.org) The Harmed Brothers reigned victorious, and shall return next week for the showdown. Stay tuned, folks.
